About us

How Lumecase came to be

Lumecase started from a straightforward observation: many watch owners in Bangkok had difficulty finding a repair shop that would give them a straight answer before asking for payment. The workshop was set up to close that gap — offering a clear assessment first, and a plain price for defined work.

The name comes from the lume-printed dial markings that let a watch be read quietly in low light — a detail that rewards restraint and precision, which is how we think about our work. We do not rush, and we do not recommend more than the watch needs.

From Chatuchak, we work on hand-wound and automatic movements brought to us by collectors, working professionals, and people who have kept a family piece for years without knowing what state it is in. All are approached the same way.

Our Mission

To return watches to steady, reliable running through work that is transparent in scope, honest in assessment, and careful in execution — without doing more than the watch requires.

Our Values

  • Transparency — the assessment comes before the invoice
  • Restraint — we do not add work that was not agreed
  • Documentation — a written note returns with every watch
  • Patience — complex movements take the time they need

How we work

Our workshop standards

Ultrasonic Parts Cleaning

Removed components are cleaned ultrasonically before reassembly. Contaminants that slow or stop a movement are removed systematically, not by hand-wiping alone.

Timing Machine Verification

Rate accuracy is measured on a timing machine across multiple positions after reassembly. Results are noted in the condition document returned with the watch.

Correct Lubricants

Each lubricant point receives the grade specified for that component. Using the wrong oil in the wrong place shortens service intervals and damages jewels over time.

Written Condition Notes

Every watch leaves with a plain-language document describing what was done, what parts were replaced if any, and the timing result observed at handover.

Secure Intake Handling

Watches are tagged, logged, and stored securely from drop-off to collection. Each piece is accounted for at every stage of work.

Agreed Scope Only

We do not exceed the agreed scope without contacting the owner first. If we find something unexpected, we pause and discuss it before any additional work begins.

Watch servicing in Bangkok — what to know

Mechanical watches require periodic servicing to remain in good running order. Oils applied during manufacture or a previous service break down over time, increasing friction and affecting rate accuracy. The typical service interval for a hand-wound or automatic movement is four to six years, though movements that have been stored or worn infrequently may benefit from attention sooner.

Lumecase works on a narrow range of services to keep the quality of each high. We do not offer battery changes, strap swaps, or quartz module repairs. Our focus is the mechanical movement and the case it sits in. This means every piece of work that leaves the workshop has had the same level of attention applied to it.

Bangkok's climate — humid and warm through most of the year — can accelerate lubricant degradation and promote corrosion inside movements that lack a properly sealed case back. If a watch has been worn daily in this environment and has not been serviced within the last five years, an internal inspection is worth considering even if the watch appears to be running normally.

We welcome enquiries from watch owners across Thailand. Drop-offs are at our Chatuchak workshop and we are happy to discuss any watch by phone or email before a visit is arranged.
